Cin-Ty Lee was born in Taiwan and grew up in southern California. He has spent more than half his life in Houston, Texas. He is a geologist by profession, teaching and conducting research at Rice University, but his main passion is birding. He has written a number of articles on challenging bird identifications, such as on pipits, loons, pewees, dowitchers, and female orioles. His most recent project is the three-volume Princeton Field Guide series to North American Flycatchers. Can-Ty also enjoys illustrating birds, leading field trips, and listening to nocturnal flight calls.
