You are kordially invited: Come one, come all to the Birders Bazaar for fun conversation, light appetizers, and, of course, kordials! Wines poured or kegs tapped for this popular and perfect prelude to the evening’s keynote presentation that follow. Meet and mingle, chat and sip with your fellow Festival-goers, leaders, speakers, and…well…everyone! Badge required for entry.

Included in Kiskadee Pass. Saturday, 5pm – 8pm

Come celebrate the culture of the region with us. Between 5 and 6:15, a sumptuous Mexican dinner will be served by Blanquita’s, renown for the superb Kiskadee Cordial served at prior festivals. They will be serving a full Mexican plate dinner that includes a Chalupa, Tamale, Flauta and Mexican rice and beans. A Vegetarian plate will be available. You must possess a Kiskadee Pass and RSVP for the dinner; however there will be Free Margaritas, beer or tea for all.

At 6:30, our celebration of the culture of the region will continue as we follow the sound of Mariachi music into the Municipal Auditorium where you will be entertained by local musicians, singers, and Folkloric and Flamenco dancers.

Saturday / 6am – 6pm
Does counting birds for twelve hours from within a 17′ circle sound like fun? You bet! Highlight from past counts include 50 Red-crowned Parrots sitting on high wires for their morning pre-flight chat. The Bay Area Birders, a local birding group, will host the circle. Join a rotating group of field trip leaders, and Festival-goers for a come-and-go casual event on the Fair Park complex grounds. You can even try out some optics. Sit for a bit, get a button, and be eligible for prizes.

The quality of the leaders and speakers at the RGVBF is high, and many of these talented people are authors of and contributors to your favorite bird books. So bring your copies (or buy in our Birders Bazaar!) and meet the people behind the covers. A complete listing will be available on rgvbf.org and also in the newsletter and signage during the event. A (partial) list of authors include: Steve Shunk – Peterson Reference Guide to Woodpeckers of North America, Neil Hayward – Lost Among the Birds, as well as Michael O’Brien, Kevin Karlson, Jon Dunn and Bill Clark
